Investment
Counselling is an investment in your wellbeing and personal growth. Below you’ll find details about session length, fees, and payment policies to help you plan with clarity.
Session Rates
Individual Sessions: $120 CAD per 50-minute appointment.
First Session: $180 CAD for 90 minutes. This longer time frame gives us space to review intake forms, discuss your goals, and begin building the therapeutic relationship.
Extended Sessions: Longer sessions are available upon request, with fees adjusted according to the hourly rate.
How Sessions Are Structured
Each “hour” includes about 50 minutes of direct counselling time. The remaining 10 minutes are reserved for note-taking and essential administrative work, so your file is always up to date.
Documentation & Reports
If you require written documentation (letters, forms, reports, or other administrative tasks), these are billed in 15-minute increments at the standard session rate.
Cancellation Policy
Life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. If you need to cancel, reschedule, or shorten an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice through the online booking system, by phone, or by email.
Appointments missed without notice make it harder for other clients—who may be waiting for an opening—to receive support. For this reason, late cancellations, no-shows, or shortened sessions with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at the full session rate.
Payment Options
Payment is due at the end of each session.
Accepted methods: Credit card (online) or Interac e-Transfer (to cofgcounselling@proton.me).
Receipts are issued immediately by email so you can submit them to your insurance provider.
Direct billing is not offered. However, many clients find that fees for counselling are eligible for reimbursement through extended health care benefits or can be claimed as a tax-deductible health care expense on their Canadian income tax return. Please confirm eligibility with your insurance company or accountant.
Insurance and Health Benefits
Coverage for counselling varies. Some employee assistance programs and extended health plans recognize counsellors registered with CPCA, ACCT, ACTA, or similar professional associations. Not all plans currently cover this designation, but more providers are beginning to include it. If your plan doesn’t, you can contact your insurer to ask about options for adding coverage.
Any costs not covered by insurance may be eligible as a medical expense on your tax return.
